River Street Sweets in Savannah, Georgia, celebrated National Pecan Day ahead of schedule this year, coinciding with their 50th anniversary. Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tyler Harper attended the event, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the entire process of pecan production, from the farm to consumer hands. River Street Sweets Owner Tim Strickland highlighted the significance of pecans in their candy-making process, using pecan oil in various treats such as pralines, bear claws, and ice cream. The company reportedly uses around 250,000 pecans annually.
